On Friday, November 4, 2011 CSS held its Fifth General Meeting. During the meeting we discussed more culture show ideas. We discussed which cultural dance we’d perform and the theme of the show. We are still in the process of finalizing the theme and things for the show so come and share your ideas at the next CSS General meeting which is November 18th, 2011 same time, same place. Other than discussing culture show ideas we also played icebreakers and had a culture lesson where we learned a few khmer dances.

On Tuesday, November 8, 2011, CSS and The Department of Asian American Studies had the opportunity to sponsor an exclusive screening of Enemies of The People, directed by Thet Sambath and produced by Rob Lemkin. Enemies of The People is a documentary that is significant to the understanding the ideology, purposes, and downfall of the Khmer Rouge with the interview of Brother #2, Nuon Chea, as well as, regional to local soldiers, Suon and Khuon, whom confessed to committing some of the mass killings during the Khmer Rouge period. Also, for the first time ever in the Long Beach community, Mr.Thet and Mr.Lemkin were able to take time and answer questions about their documentary. We appreciate their great efforts to make an appearance in Long Beach and create an important primary source that will help the current, aftermath, and future generations understand the history of the Khmer Rouge.
Visit www.enemiesofthepeople.com for more updates or donate to fund their next sequel, Suspicious Minds, which goes further to understanding the reasons behind the mass killings.
Enemies of The People DVD will be released by January 2012.
