Car Wash Fundraiser – Sunday, Oct. 11th @ La Lune Restaurant

Hi Friends and Family,

We would like you to be a part of our Fundraiser on Sunday, October 11th from 10am-2pm at La Lune Restaurant in Long Beach.  Cambodian Student Society is continuously raising money to help students with academic needs and resource to higher learning. Our membership includes: students, non-students, parents, alumnus and community leaders. Our meetings and activities invitations are extended to everyone and not just Cambodians. We have a very good cultural diverse mix.

From our last meeting on 10/2, we have discussed a need to raise funds for student's tutoring needs, annual culture show, high school outreach programs, and activities which will help enrich both students and non-students life. Cal State nationwide budget cuts has hinder resources, programs, and faculties.

Your $5 car wash contribution will not only last a shining impression for the week, but will take our students for a long way to towards their career path!

Thank you once again for your continuing support!

P.S. We are also in need of volunteers. Please let us know if you can help. We'd really appreciate it!

Best,

Michael Saing
President

I would like to welcome all of our new members to our organization! Thanks for taking your time off on a Friday evening to spend it with us. This video I would like to share with you is a small montage created by CSS alum, Daniel Khin, that tells our story of struggle and our journey in life. It also shows a little bit about CSS and what we do.

I hope you enjoyed that! I will continue to post videos about CSS from now on so you guys can see what are we all about.

Welcome Back!

First of all, we would like to thank all of those who came by La Lune Restaurant and had their cars washed Sunday morning! All of the funds and tips will go to Leeza Kim's family to help fund her funeral.

Special Thanks to those who actually came out and volunteered to help. Some of whom aren't even CSS members and just wanted to support our cause. In total, we've washed over 75 cars and made over $900 in 4 hours of work!

Now that Summer is over, its back to school. yay... Even though the semester have just started, CSS is still working hard! Come check out our backpack tent near the bookstore! CSS will be working the tents from 7am - 5pm Monday through Thursday. If you have free time, come by and help us!

Also, next week is Week of Welcome! During the organizational fair, we will be having a booth at the friendship walk so come by and visit us! We will also having our FIRST GENERAL MEETING on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2009 in USU-305.

Well, thats it for now. Have a great first week of school and enjoy your labor day!

Rest in Peace, Leeza Kim

On late Friday night (8/21) at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Leeza Kim's family and friends were profoundly saddened to learn that she has departed this world. Her friends and I grieved with her family when we heard of the news that night.

Leeza Kim, 19 years old, left us a legacy of wisdom, humor, and love for her family and friends. I remember when I first met Leeza two years ago when she became a member of the Cambodian Student Society at Cal State University Long Beach. Like so many others, I was drawn to Leeza by her charms, friendliness, and humor. I am deeply grieved by her unexpected passing. Leeza will always remain alive in the memories of those who knew her, loved her, and treasured her as I had.

During this difficult time for Leeza's family, we would like to ask you to join our organization along with Leeza's friends and family to participate in this fund raising car wash event. La Lune Restaurant has been generous on short time notice allowing us to use their parking lot to support the cause. All the donations and proceeds will go to Leeza's family. Each exterior car wash will be $6 and any other donations are always helpful and welcome.

Event will be on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at La Lune Restaurant in Long Beach from 9am-2pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Michael Saing at 562-331-5889.

Thank You very much for your help and support.
